CDR's 32-hour basic mediation builds on 40 years of mediation services, as well as the collective learning and collaborative efforts of the fifteen mediation centers in Oregon and experience and expertise from individuals and mediation centers across the country.
You'll often hear that mediation is an art and not a science. The ability to talk with people, help them talk with each other, and reach an agreement, is not a simple process. Successful mediation takes patience, effort, and a wide range of skills and abilities that are learned, developed, and honed in a lifelong process of transforming conflict.
Participants in this basic training will learn a variety of skills and tools, including:
*This training meets the requirements for Chapter 36 of the Oregon Revised Statutes to mediate for the Oregon Courts and/or for Oregon state supported mediation centers. This training also meets many state standards for mediation training, which generally require between 32-40 hours of training on relevant skills, tools, processes, and standards of practice.
